In 2004 Laurie graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a BA in Criminal Justice and continued on to Washburn University School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate and graduated with honors and awards for the best written work in both Property and Juvenile Offender classes in 2008
Laurie served as an adjunct professor at Manatee Community College where she taught courses for the Paralegal/Legal Assistant Degree Program. She began her legal career in 1996 with a degree from Palm Beach Community College as a Legal Assistant and became a Certified Legal Assistant in 1997. By starting off her legal career as a paralegal she knows how a case is handled from beginning to end.
In January 2011 she was named one of the top 25 bankruptcy attorneys by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. She is a current member of the Florida Bar, the U.S. Court of Appeals 11th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court Middle District of Florida.
She also maintains membership in the Sarasota County Bar Association, Manatee County Bar Association, Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Association, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
